2023-2024 Global History Honors and United States History
I'm Cristina Tutaj and I was born in Los Angeles, but didn't stay there. My family moved to Kaua'i when I was seven, where I discovered an early love for history when my dad made me unofficial official tour guide of the island's heiau's (temples) and various historical sites when we had visitors from the mainland. After graduating from Kapa'a High School I went to the University of Hawai'i at Manoa where I majored in Secondary Education with a content focus on Social Studies in particular world history. After college, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area (partially because I wanted to wear sweaters) where I attended graduate school at San Francisco State University and earned a MA in European History. I taught Social Studies at Mills High School in Millbrae, CA from 2013 until 2021 when I began teaching at Nicolet High School. My husband was born and raised in the Milwaukee area (Rufus King, UWM) and we decided to make the big jump to the Midwest during COVID. I have been told by the locals here that my two winters were MILD 😬. I prefer students to contact me in person during Enrichment for any academic questions. I will respond to parent or guardian emails within two business days and I am more than happy to talk on the phone or over Zoom by appointment.
