After completing my Bachelor's Degrees in Health and Physical Education and minor in Adapted Physical Education from Winona State University in Winona, MN, I accepted my first teaching position in Stewartville, Minnesota. I spent nine years teaching high school Health & Physical Education to 10th graders before moving to Milwaukee in August of 2019. During my time at Stewartville, I also completed my Master's Degree in Differentiated Instruction from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
After relocating to Milwaukee, I was hired to teach 4th, 6th, and 8th Grade Health & Physical Education at Maple Dale - Indian Hill School District in Fox Point. I was also the Athletic Director for the district as well as a coach of various sports.
This will be my first FIFTH year at Nicolet High School. Go Knights!
In my spare time, you'll find me staying active through biking, kayaking, boating, hiking, painting, reading, cooking, playing with my puppy, Rooney, and traveling to new places.
My goal as a health and wellness educator is to ensure all students receive the skills they need in order to be health literate consumers, be able to make healthy decisions and know the impact of the choices they're making, find activities/fitness components that they can continue to do for a lifetime in order to prevent illness and reduce risk of disease. Not only does health and wellness promote positive mental and emotional health, but it contributes to a long, productive life, better academic success, shifts in mood, and overall well-being. My hope is that my student's leave their wellness courses with a passion for wellness and the knowledge to make healthy choices that will stick with them for a lifetime.
"Make good choices."
