After graduating in 2010 from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh with my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physical Education (PE) and minors in Health Education and Adapted Physical Education I spent my first two years of teaching at Nicolet as a PE and Health Teacher. From there, I accepted a teaching position at Whitnall High School, where I took on the role of the K-12 PE/Health Curriculum Coordinator for the district, department chair, and PE teacher. During this time I received my Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch. With this knowledge, I returned to Nicolet in the fall of 2016 as a Wellness Educator and have been at Nicolet since.
In my spare time, I love being active, spending time with my husband, 2 kids, dog CeCe, and helping others achieve their personal fitness goals.
Physical Education is an imperative subject that allows children to build valuable physical, social and cognitive skills needed to help them rise to their fullest potential. I believe that each student should receive quality physical education in which they are provided with a safe, secure, and nurturing environment. The role of every physical education instructor is to create positive learning opportunities that promote a healthy, active lifestyle that students will use for the rest of their lives. Research has shown that physical activity can increase physiological health, academic performance, mood, and lower stress levels. Students will leave physical education with a knowledge base regarding fitness levels, motor skills, and personal and social skills so they can obtain the ultimate goal of a lifetime of physical activity, health, and responsible citizenship.
“Health is a state of body. Wellness is a state of being.” ~J. Stanford
